This is a new page, as of September 2009. Three years ago I sailied from Antigua to Georgetown, Exumas with my friend Ron on his 50 Beneteau. We made twenty stops over six weeks. It was a dream!

Because the nights were warm, we wanted to keep the hatches open to catch the ample breezes. But there would often be passing showers that would force us to get up to close the hatches, then we'd lay down, wake up in a sweat, open them and repeat!

In Georgetown, one of our neighbors (on the hook) had a wind scoop that was designed to solve this problem. It would catch the wind, but keep out the rain and even the bugs. I decided I'd like to see if I could make one and eventualy sell them. I made a prototype and gave it to Ron shortly after we came back in the spring of 2006. He promptly lost it through a couple of moves etc, but finally found it and used it on a month long cruise of the Chesapeake Bay this summer. He said it worked great and even had a few suggestions to improve it

So there you have it. If you are heading south for the winter, or know someone who is, it would be a great item to have. They are all custom built, and will cost about $200. Send me an email or give me a call and we can design it and have it ready for the trip south.
